GLEN FOUNDATION's STATEMENT OF FAITHAt Glen Foundation (GF):* We believe the Bible to be the inspired, the only infallible, authoritative Word of God. (1 Thessalonians 2:13; 2 Timothy 3:15-17)* We believe that there is one God, eternally existent in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. (Matthew 28:19; John 10:30; Ephesians 4:4-6)
* We believe in the deity of the Lord Jesus Christ, in His virgin birth, in His sinless life, in His miracles, in His vicarious and atoning death through His shed blood on the cross, in His bodily resurrection, in His ascension to the right hand of the Father, and in His personal return in power and glory. (Matthew 1:23; John 1:1-4 and 1:29; Acts 1:11 and 2:22-24; Romans 8:34; 1 Corinthians 15:3-4; 2 Corinthians 5:21; Philippians 2:5-11; Hebrews 1:1-4 and 4:15)
* We believe that all men everywhere are lost and face the judgment of God, that Jesus Christ is the only way of salvation, and that for the salvation of lost and sinful man, repentance of sin and faith in Jesus Christ results in regeneration by the Holy Spirit. (Luke 24:46-47; John 14:6; Acts 4:12; Romans 3:23; 2 Corinthians 5:10-11; Ephesians 1:7 and 2:8-9; Titus 3:4-7)
* We believe in the present ministry of the Holy Spirit, whose indwelling enables the Christian to live a godly life. (John 3:5-8; Acts 1:8 and 4:31; Romans 8:9; 1 Corinthians 2:14; Galatians 5:16-18; Ephesians 6:12; Colossians 2:6-10)
* We believe in the resurrection of both the saved and the lost; the saved unto the resurrection of eternal life and the lost unto the resurrection of damnation and eternal punishment. (1 Corinthians 15:51-57; Revelation 20:11-15)
* We believe in the spiritual unity of believers in the Lord Jesus Christ and that all true believers are members of His body, the church. (1 Corinthians 12:12, 27; Ephesians 1:22-23)
* We believe that the ministry of evangelism and discipleship is a responsibility of all followers of Jesus Christ. (Matthew 28:18-20; Acts 1:8; Romans 10:9-15; 1 Peter 3:15)
* We believe God’s plan for human sexuality is to be expressed only within the context of marriage, that God created man and woman as unique biological persons made to complete each other. God instituted monogamous marriage between male and female as the foundation of the family and the basic structure of human society. For this reason, we believe that marriage is exclusively the union of one genetic male and one genetic female. (Genesis 2:24; Matthew 19:5-6; Mark 10:6-9; Romans 1:26-27; 1 Corinthians 6:9)
* We believe that we must dedicate ourselves to prayer, to the service of our Lord, to His authority over our lives, and to the ministry of evangelism. (Matthew 9:35-38; 22:37-39, and 28:18-20; Acts 1:8; Romans 10:9-15 and 12:20-21; Galatians 6:10; Colossians 2:6-10; 1 Peter 3:15)
* We believe that human life is sacred from conception to its natural end; and that we must have concern for the physical and spiritual needs of our fellowmen. (Psalm 139:13; Isaiah 49:1; Jeremiah 1:5; Matthew 22:37-39; Romans 12:20-21; Galatians 6:10)
At GF, the Gospel really is the center of all we do! Whether tackling security, fear, and desperation of beneficiaries or taking on needs of people who are victims of war, poverty, natural disasters, disease, and famine _ God's love through His Son, Jesus Christ, manifest in the Gospel, is our light in addition to biblical principles.

OUR APPROACH FOR BUSINESS COMMUNITY / PRIVATE SECTOR ENGAGEMENTUnderstand the Problem: We analyze the market to discover the causes of poor performance, paying special attention to the capacity of local firms, initiatives and incentives that could encourage them to engage in the market. By understanding how and why local businesses behave the way they do, we can engage with the right partners.
Collaborate on the Solution: We engage our partners in conversations early and often, listening to their perspectives around common local problems, wants and needs. Together, we identify the opportunities and design solutions to impact the system.
Respond and Adapt: A healthy partnership allows for flexibility when circumstances change, or experience reveals a better approach. We invest the time, energy, and resources in the relationship with our partners to ensure we can evolve with changing market dynamics, enhance resilience, and produce enduring results.
Measure and Learn: We measure the impact of our work on the market using mutually developed milestones, indicators, and metrics.
We use what we learn to build our own capacity and that of our partners. We make evidence-based shifts in practice to improve the system as a whole.

Unemployment is a big concern. We design project/initiatives for youth to make them self-reliant. We want to provide vocational training to unemployed youths and recent school dropouts to enhance employability and provide a skilled foundation to build a career – therefore reducing levels of unemployment in those aged 21-30 and empowering young people to believe in their dreams and enabling the acquisition of income so that they can support their household and families.
Through our projects/initiatives, youth become self-reliant and strongly resilient in addressing their challenges through newly acquired skills and learning to enhance their careers and employment prospects.
WOMEN CENTER
Women face many socio-economic challenges. To address such issues the center with its programs or projects will have the following objectives:
Objective 1 – Ensure that more women have the skills, capabilities, and resources to fully participate in the economy.
Objective 2 – Promote women’s social and economic empowerment.
Objective 3 – Continue to build on past cohorts to strengthen the entrepreneurial eco-system in the region and Rwanda for women.
Gennerally, the center might be empowered to tackle and take on women issues:
1) Women's Rights
2) Gender Equality and Education
3) Women’s Economic Empowerment
4) Gender-based Violence
5) Sexual and Reproductive Rights
Such tools, tips and technologies can empower and emancipate women, especially the last mile rural women.SEXUAL VIOLENCE RESEARCH CENTER (SVRC)
Sexual Violence Research Center (SVRC) will be set up for innovative research that will contribute to the prevention and response of violence against women (VAW) and violence against children (VAC) and other forms of violence driven by gender inequality in low and middle-income communities and countries.
Additionally, we have projects addressing violence and abuse issues.
CHILD(REN) CENTER
The center helps, and will help, children by providing support in the following areas, list inexaustive:
a) Health;
b) Education;
c) Access to sport;
d) Personal development;
e) Integration of children at risk;
f) Protection of children’s rights.
The center will support the most vulnerable children, such as street children, disabled children, children affected by conflict, and kids behind bars.We work with African visionary community leaders to implement locally relevant yet far-reaching projects that create lasting change within the justice, education, and social protection sectors.
This approach and center will enable us to focus on ‘hard to reach’ children, both in terms of their complex needs (e.g., street children with learning difficulties) and location (e.g., urban violent slums or remote rural areas).
Together we make ideas, innovations and impact both sustainable and scalable to protect, educate and empower even more of the world’s most disadvantaged children.RURAL LIVELIHOOD DEVELOPMENT CENTER
The center will take on Rural development initiatives andor projects for the good of the beneficiaries and national economic growth (especially those related to Agriculture, Environment and Health).
Rural development is a topic that is pretty easy to understand but hard to implement. It focuses upon the upliftment and development of the sections of rural economies, that experience grave poverty issues and effectively aims at developing their productivity.
Rural development is important not only for the majority of the population residing in rural areas, but also for the overall economic expansion of the nation.
We design, and will design, projects for Rural livelihood or improvement of the livelihood of Rural People.
The main objectives of the projects or initiatives are, inexhaustively, to Increase:
a) access of women farmers to micro-credit for productive purposes,
b) annual household income through promotion of diversified livelihood activities,
c) develop the capacities of micro and small enterprises, and
d) reduce poverty by promoting climate change resilient agriculture (farming) as well as agribusinesses.
LITERACY CENTER
Challenges of illiteracy, disease and poverty still bedevil societies and communities. Hence, the center's projects or programmes will offer literacy and numeracy skills (reading and writing), digital literacy, financial literacy and AI literacy to illiterate adults and families, youths and women. Additionally, we will offer other business and or entrepreneurship related ideas (courses).
REFUGEE SERVICES CENTERAt the service of migrants, asylum seekers and refugees| Welcoming immigrants and refugeesEvery two seconds someone in the world is forced to leave their home and everything they know. With the threat of violence, persecution or disaster knocking on their door, they make the only choice they can to find safety—they run.
Our center helps legally resettled refugees to acclimate to their new lives by providing language classes, job placement assistance, and cultural orientation programs.
We receive refugees from countries torn by violence, war, and human rights abuses to make their home in Rwanda.
We believe every family has the right to live in safety and dignity.
That is why we welcome refugees and asylum seekers with open hearts and helping hands.
We also receive Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs), and migrants.
We help young people who face barriers in accessing learning-to-earning pathways due to their migration or displacement experience.
We help the vulnerable build lives free from fear.
We intervene in a variety of ways _ transforming communities through just and sustainable responses to hunger, poverty, displacement and disaster:
Employment
As legal refugees, our clients are legally authorized to work. We help them create resumes, find jobs, apply online and make job referrals.
Health & Wellness
We help clients with health insurance enrollment, medical appointments and referrals, emergency food, pregnancy and baby assistance, and related wellness support.
Education
We offer multiple levels of ESL (English as Second Laguage), from pre-literacy to intermediate, with some women’s only classes. We also provide citizenship classes to help clients prepare for the citizenship exam or requirements.
Working with faith leaders and refugee communities lift their voices to advocate for better policies or environment. By standing in solidarity, we are helping keep immigrant families together and asylum seekers and refugees happy.

OUR APPROACH_WHAT MAKES US UNIQUEDECENTRALIZATION: Over 90% are Local Staff!
GF’s decentralized structure empowers local development professionals. Most of our technical capacity and programming capacity resides with the teams in the field.
This allows GF to design initiatives that are especially responsive to local needs and tailored to local conditions.
Our field programs evolve organically with the changing nature of local development challenges, as reflected in the growing importance of urban or rural poverty reduction initiatives locally or regionally.
RELATIONSHIPS: Long-Standing Partnerships!
GF has sustained its presence in partner countries and communities over many years.
These long-term relationships give us intimate knowledge of local circumstances and challenges.
Just as important, the relationships and GF’s local reputation are a foundation for trust with groups that are often difficult to reach—such as residents of remote villages in rwanda Mountains and Hilltops, refugees in urban centers, farmers in the border areas, and cross border women traders or smugglers.
INNOVATION: Developing Replicable Models!
GF’s local capacity and long-standing relationships enable GF to pilot and refine innovative solutions to local development challenges.
While our activities are rooted in grassroots action, the approaches and tools we develop gain traction far beyond the communities in which we work. For example, local natural resource management bylaws, developed by GF and its partners in northern Mali, are now common elements of development practice throughout West Africa.
GF’s locally adapted models for micro-credit and small enterprise development are now widely used by NGOs throughout Rwanda.
And GF’s model of engaging communities to increase girls’ education, to reduce school age dropouts, piloted in a handful of rural villages in the regional Mountains, is now used across regions and is on the cusp of expansion to the national level.

SOME CORE PROGRAMMESIn communities and throughout the region, we work with local partners to directly improve the lives of tens of thousands of vulnerable people each year through a myriad of initiatives including sustainable agriculture, microenterprise development, women’s empowerment, civic education, and peacebuilding.PEACEBUILDING THROUGH ECONOMIC COOPERATION AND DEVELOPMENT
Conflict is a backdrop to daily life in many of the communities where GF works. While conflict expresses itself in many ways—warfare, competition over natural resources, occupation—poverty is often a significant underlying cause and almost always a consequence.
We create new pathways for peace and show policymakers how it is possible to move forward in areas of entrenched conflict.
GF continues to implement highly effective initiatives to reduce poverty and promote sustainable economic development in conflict and post-conflict areas.
Our approach focuses on core livelihood issues in a given area and helps populations find mutual interests and benefit through economic cooperation.
By focusing on livelihood issues, GF frames conflict mitigation and reconciliation into practical and immediate concerns for average citizens.
This takes different forms depending on the causes and consequences of conflict - including economic sector development, economic reintegration and inclusion, and collaborative Natural Resource Management.
One of the projects was Fruits without borders: building economic cooperation between Burundi and Rwanda.
WOMEN’S MICROENTERPRISE DEVELOPMENT
Throughout Africa, and Rwanda in particular, women are assuming increasing economic responsibility for their families.
In spite of the necessity, hey must overcome social barriers, lack of job skills or business management experience, and little access to credit.
At GF, we have found that microenterprise development is among the most effective and accessible ways to create jobs and income for disadvantaged women in the region _ even the youths.
Working in partnership with local community associations and cooperatives, GF provides vulnerable women—rural and urban poor, heads of households, widows, refugees, victims of domestic violence—with business management training, helps them access credit, and facilitates networks to provide both business and social support.
GF also helps organize networks to offer ongoing mentoring to entrepreneurs to ensure the sustainability of their new businesses.
One Projects was Women’s economic empowerment and advocacy
AGRICULTURE AND NATURAL RESOURCE MANAGEMENT
One of the most vulnerable groups in Rwanda is smallholder farmers, who are on the frontlines of climate change yet often lack access to the information, tools, and infrastructure to adapt.
GF supports smallholder farmers and other natural resource-dependent populations (herders, fishers) through a variety of initiatives to improve food security and increase incomes.
Among GF’s primary areas of focus in agriculture has been to enable communities to use water resources more efficiently —harnessing nonconventional water resources, such as rainwater harvesting, spring catchment, and wastewater reuse; introducing water-efficient crops and farming practices; and adopting improved irrigation technologies.
Beyond achieving short-term gains, our goal is to help develop the local capacity and infrastructure to manage agriculture and natural resources sustainably in the long-term.
One of the projects was advancing more profitable, sustainable natural resource management: water and agriculture.
YOUTH CIVIC ENGAGEMENT
Approximately one in five citizens in the Africa is between the ages of 15 and 24. That’s 90 million people and growing.
Youth have a vested interest in building a region that’s more inclusive and opportunity-rich.
Yet their exclusion from the civic and economic life of their countries is one of the key factors driving reform movements across the region.
GF invests in underserved youth to help them overcome economic and social barriers.
We work with youth and the community organizations that support them to find practical ways to constructively address real problems in their community, including unemployment, environmental degradation, and safety.
Our efforts help youth amplify their voice in society. We offer them the tools they need to change the course of their lives and to take a leadership role in their communities.
One of the Projects was Giving youth a voice in government
REFUGEE /ASYLUM SEEKER SUPPORT
We advocate for lifesaving humanitarian assistance that provides food and addresses global hunger—an especially critical need now as the conflicts, climate change increase food insecurity worldwide.
We provide a range of activities for refugees, asylum seekers and migrants in the community that promote inclusion, community cohesion, education and health.
We reduce vulnerability working with highly marginalized, refugee, and forcibly displaced communities around us and the globe.
VETERANS PROGRAMME
We support Veterans who have faced significant and evident challenges during their Service, which has created barriers or compromised their ability to have a fulfilling Service experience.
SEXUAL VIOLENCE
We are setting up Sexual Violence Research Center (SVRC) for innovative research that will contribute to the prevention and response of violence against women (VAW) and violence against children (VAC) and other forms of violence driven by gender inequality in low and middle-income communities and countries.
Additionally, we have projects addressing violence and abuse issues.

[NOTE OF FOCUS or APPROACH]
GF seeks and encourages the involvement of people from traditionally underrepresented audiences in all its grants, programs, and other activities, and in its workforce and workplace.

DISABILITY ACTIVISM AND ADVOCACYWe are working with others [ private sector entities, civil society organisations and public agencies and reseach institutions] to enhance understanding of disability and addressing the diverse needs of disabled individuals to foster an inclusive society. By focusing on healthcare, accessibility, social support, and financial empowerment, we can help improve their quality of life and promote their independence and participation in the community.Addressing Barriers
Disabled individuals often encounter barriers such as stigma, discrimination, and lack of access to education and employment opportunities. Addressing these barriers is essential for promoting equality and ensuring that disabled individuals can fully participate in society.
Glen Foundation is at the forefront of addressing these barriers!
Financial Empowerment
Financial challenges are prevalent among disabled individuals, who often face barriers to employment and financial independence. They may require education on managing public benefits, budgeting, and understanding the impact of work on their benefits. Financial empowerment programs tailored to their unique situations can help them achieve greater economic stability.
Glen Foundation is tackling this head on!
Social Support and Inclusion
Social support systems are crucial for disabled individuals to engage with their communities. This includes support from family, friends, and community organizations. Programs that promote inclusion and participation in social activities can significantly improve their quality of life.
Glen Foundation disability program hugely tackles Social Support and Inclusion.
Accessibility and Assistive Technology
Accessibility is a critical need for disabled individuals. This includes physical access to buildings, transportation, and public spaces.
